Your Words...

Do we spend much time actually thinking about what we say?

Have you ever been in the situation where you are listening to an account of something that has happened to someone else and all these thoughts run through your mind of what he or she should have done or should not have done in that situation? Maybe you go a little further and talk to your dearest friend about it just to see if he or she agrees with you.

EXAMPLES:
- Remember the rich movie star lady that got caught shoplifting - what was her name? Did you think, "she should have enough money, why would she be out shoplifting? I would never do that. It seems so stupid." Yet you may pick up something from work, pens, pencils, paper, screws, or whatever and think nothing of it.
- Do you remember the story about ol' what's his name and what he did? And he is married! And yet you stare at the young woman, in the too short dress, as she walks by. What are you thinking?
- Remember the guy that shot his neighbor because he lets his dog run free and it's always dumping in his yard. Or the neighbor that is always having those loud parties until 3 in the morning. Don't you just hate that guy. Some may say, "No, but I do have a strong dislike for him."

Let me tell you the truth... and by the way, these words condemn me just as much as they may you.

EXAMPLE 1. You are a thief.

EXAMPLE 2. You are an adulterer.

EXAMPLE 3. You are a murderer.

Don't take my word for it. Read Matthew chapter five. God is the One who holds up the standard of conduct for all who draw breath. Here is the bottom line according to The Master. We should be...

2 Corinthians 10:5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

The reasons are pretty simple. Matthew 12: 37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

Just between us - God thinks our words a pretty important ...shouldn't we?
